Members of Congress Speak Out After TV Segment

Several members of Congress were very upset with a segment that aired on CNN.

Members of the “Squad” were furious over a panel discussion, and it prompted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to demand conservative voices on the network be silenced.

Shortly after Rep. Ilhan Omar had appeared on CNN for an interview, a panel took place on the network. Senior political commentator Scott Jennings – former George W. Bush official – said that Omar is “a public relations agent for Hamas sitting in the United States Congress.”

CNN host Abby Phillip, S.E Cupp, Mark Preston, and Jamal Simmons seemed to agree and Cupp even doubled down.

“How on earth is this kind of blatant Islamophobia so casually accepted without pushback?” questioned Ocasio-Cortez. “This is shocking.”

Note that several members of the “squad” are being challenged in the primary.

“Scott Jennings’ comments are reminiscent of the anti-Muslim bigotry we saw in the George Bush post-9/11 era,” reacted Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) whose poll numbers are plummeting in the the Democrat primary. “It is disgusting and must not be normalized. CNN should denounce this hateful, dangerous and blatant Islamophobia immediately.”

According to the Daily Beast the panal discussion took place after Omar said that she would support Joe Biden however disapproved of his policy in Israel.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman demanded that Jennings be censored and canceled.

Scott Jennings’ comments are disgustingly racist and Islamophobic. Comments like this, especially on national news, are extremely dangerous and fuel anti-muslim hate crimes,” he wrote on social media. “CNN should never have him on again! This hatred is unacceptable and cannot be normalized.”
