Aaron Rodgers has never been shy about speaking his mind, but this week the Green Bay Packers legend (and current Jets QB) reminded everyone that he’s not just an athlete—he’s got a stand-up comedian’s sense of timing, too.
NEW: NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers jabs former President Joe Biden, says he is getting so old in the league that he finds himself “doing the Joe Biden.”

During a lighthearted exchange, Rodgers cracked that he’s been in the NFL so long he’s “doing the Joe Biden.” The implication? He’s hitting that point in his career where age shows, reflexes slow, and you might just forget where you were going mid-sentence.
It was a quick jab, but the fallout was pure culture-war theater. Left-leaning sportswriters and progressive Twitter accounts immediately lit up, some feigning outrage, others insisting Rodgers “stay in his lane.” The replies to clips of the comment were a predictable mix of pearl-clutching and humorless lectures—exactly the sort of response that makes a joke land even harder.
Aaron Rodgers said after 21 years in the league, he “gravitates toward the old heads,” so when he was walking off the field in Jacksonville and started looking around, he did the “Joe Biden,” realized he didn’t know anyone, and then joined up with Cam Heyward and TJ Watt. pic.twitter.com/QuFoBF6Ghv

The irony is that Rodgers’ quip works because the “Biden’s too old” narrative is now mainstream—even among Democrats. Poll after poll shows voters worried about the president’s age and mental acuity. And, as the political rumor mill notes, it was First Lady Jill Biden who was one of the most vocal voices urging her husband to run for a second term, locking him into a re-election fight where his age is already the defining storyline.
Rodgers didn’t have to unpack all of that in his joke—he just had to drop the punchline. But the subtext was clear: everybody knows the reference, because everybody’s been talking about it.

CNN’s Jake Tapper and other media figures have spent years downplaying or ignoring Biden’s slip-ups, often citing “context” or “right-wing framing.” Rodgers, in one sentence, did what those newsrooms haven’t—he put the issue front and center, and made people laugh about it.
