Oklahoma Thief Dives Through Window, Leaves ID Behind

An Oklahoma suspect stunned a deputy by diving headfirst through a closed living room window on Oct. 1. The man left his driver’s license in a backpack behind him, which helped authorities track him down.

Deputies found Rayven Lee Wooten, 24, stealing copper wire from a dishwasher inside a vacant home on Sunset Lane. Wooten ignored orders to get on his knees and instead ran to the window. The deputy radioed that the suspect was now on foot after the dramatic escape.

A separate theft in Texas targeted a terminally ill boy’s life-saving medication at the State Fair. Single mom Kayla Price had her purse stolen while she watched her children on Oct. 6. Her three-year-old son, Devin, relies on emergency nasal spray to stop seizures caused by stage 4 brain cancer.

The thief took nearly $2,000 worth of medicine and $1,500 in cash from the boy’s wheelchair. Price told Fox 4 that insurance would not cover a replacement for the stolen drugs. “The potential of my son having a seizure and me not having that medication … it sucks,” she told the thief, begging him to give back the items, according to the New York Post.

Although Devin underwent six rounds of chemotherapy and 45 radiation treatments, his tumor kept growing. Despite his condition, Price said her son is a cheerful boy who enjoys dancing and SpongeBob SquarePants. She stated, “I could lose everything because of someone’s careless act.” I would do anything for my baby, and that is why it really hurts.

Help arrived when Dallas man Chris Bailey heard about the theft through his Everybody Love Everybody Facebook group. Bailey gave $2,000 right away to assist the family in paying for the medicine. He told NBC 5 that Price went to the pharmacy right away to fill the prescription.

Bailey also planned to meet Devin with a gift he called “A little early Christmas surprise.” The thief left the family in despair, but a stranger’s kindness restored their hope.

Wooten faces charges for burglary, resisting arrest, and obstructing an officer in Oklahoma. The sheriff’s office noted that the suspect “took the phrase ‘Make a break for it’ a little too literally!” Viewers online mocked the mistake of leaving identification behind during such a risky escape.
