Democrats Spend Millions To Oust Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick In Pennsylvania

House Majority PAC began spending $6.7 million on Tuesday to defeat Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick in Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District, according to the Washington Examiner. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee added another $945,000 to support challenger Bob Harvie. This massive cash influx marks a sharp departure from previous cycles where Democrats spent little in this area.

Fitzpatrick, a five-term Republican incumbent, represents a district that voted for former Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024. He previously held a strong advantage due to his family ties and centrist record. Now, national groups see him as vulnerable and are pouring resources into the race.

Democrats targeted this seat as part of a nationwide push to retake the House. Only a handful of seats are required for them to seize control of Congress. Pennsylvania holds four competitive races, making this district a key battleground. The 1st District includes the suburb of Bucks County.

The DCCC spent only $25,000 in 2022 and $75,000 in 2024. In 2020, they spent $1.6 million, with House Majority PAC adding $2.5 million.

The new spending levels show Democrats believe they can finally unseat the incumbent. They are backing Harvie, a Bucks County Commissioner. The groups see this as a chance to make a real impact on the national balance of power.

National Republicans are not sitting on the sidelines. The Congressional Leadership Fund entered the race on Tuesday with $4.5 million. The National Republican Congressional Committee is coordinating an additional $465,000 ad buy. These funds join the $5 million Fitzpatrick has already spent in the race.

House Majority PAC is running ads that claim Fitzpatrick has changed his stance. The ads feature a Pennsylvanian woman who appears angry about the economy.

Republicans are using their own funds to counter these attacks and protect their seat.

The race is getting expensive and fierce. Both sides are investing heavily to win the trust of voters in Bucks County. The final outcome will depend on which side can convince more locals to turn out in November.
