Is Joe Biden trying to sink Kamala’s campaign? It’s starting to look like it. Sure, he’s up there in years and probably forgets things here and there, but this isn’t the first time he’s cast a shadow over her run.
For starters, he’s gone on record saying Kamala “won’t be like him” in the White House. Then, as if trying to mirror that statement, Kamala jumps in to say she “wouldn’t change a thing” about the past four years. Great response, right? An administration struggling to answer to record inflation, high gas prices, and border chaos, and Kamala’s best response is to double down on the Biden playbook.
Biden keeps tethering Kamala to his policies, almost as if he’s daring her to claim independence. Every time there’s a misstep, he’s right there to make sure she’s credited as part of the decision-making process. It’s no secret that Kamala was in the room for the policy moves, big and small.
So, when Biden tosses around zingers about Trump’s “garbage” supporters—just as Kamala is speaking at her final rally in D.C., mind you—he practically pulls the rug right out from under her. Let’s talk about timing: as Kamala tries to pitch herself as the “great unifier” and say she’s ready to “turn the page,” Biden pops up with his rally critique, tossing another inflammatory remark into the mix, which ends up hijacking the whole day’s news cycle.

The White House tried to change what he said:
Also the attempt to transcribe this by the White House as “supporter’s” as opposed to “supporters” — which he clearly says — is laughable. https://t.co/JEDvpHLDcF

This is what the Trump Campaign had to say:
This is what Kamala and her backers think of Trump supporters.
It’s exactly this type of disgusting, unhinged rhetoric that has inspired two attempts on President Trump’s life since July.

And Kamala’s aides? They’ve had enough. Rumor has it they’re saying Biden’s team is intentionally trying to derail her campaign, or at least throw enough wrenches into the gears to make her road to the White House more of an uphill battle. Not that Kamala’s doing herself many favors—every time she’s pressed on how she’d “be different” from Biden, she dodges. It’s the kind of lackluster response that makes it clear she’s stuck between defending Biden and trying to appear as a fresh start.
Here is the half-hearted response from Biden:

Let’s be real, though. This is the same Joe Biden who didn’t exactly leave the race voluntarily. Word on the street is that Biden wasn’t too thrilled when his own party pushed him aside for Kamala, so maybe there’s a little “take that” energy behind his headline-stealing comments. When Biden’s memoir comes out, and aides start spilling the inside scoop on 2024, it wouldn’t be shocking if we hear that the “avuncular” Joe wasn’t all that warm and fuzzy about stepping aside.
Even Dems are calling him out:
