Florida’s Two Amendment’s Failed

Election night brought more than just the usual presidential and congressional drama—state referenda across the country also had their moment in the spotlight, especially in Florida, where Amendment 4’s failure to pass has sparked a media meltdown of epic proportions. Florida, the largest state with an abortion amendment on the ballot this cycle, saw voters reject an attempt to vastly expand abortion rights in the Sunshine State. And let’s just say MSNBC’s Joy Reid wasn’t thrilled.

Reid wasted no time unleashing her usual hyperbole, blaming Governor Ron DeSantis for Amendment 4’s defeat and slapping him with the predictable “fascist” label. According to her, DeSantis was “determined” to stop Amendment 4 at all costs, even going so far as to (gasp!) use the power of government to ensure voters were informed. How dare he, right?

For those who missed the details, Florida’s Amendment 4 was no small proposal. This measure didn’t just aim to repeal the state’s heartbeat law; it would have blown the abortion limit out to an ambiguous “viability” threshold, allowing for abortions well into later stages of pregnancy. It also permitted non-doctor personnel to perform abortions and weakened parental notification requirements.

Planned Parenthood, George Soros, and a fleet of wealthy liberal donors funneled over $100 million into pushing this amendment across the finish line. But in Florida, a proposed amendment needs to clear a 60% threshold to pass—a rule that’s been in place since the state constitution was amended to prevent frivolous changes like, say, mandating extra space for pregnant pigs.

Naturally, DeSantis, who was elected on a conservative mandate, stepped up to counter the tidal wave of cash and messaging from the abortion lobby. He rallied his base and laid out the stakes, explaining that Amendment 4 would strip away key protections for minors and open the door to even less oversight in the industry. For Joy Reid and her media pals, DeSantis standing his ground was simply too much to handle. “Fascist” and “determined” were the nicest words she could muster because nothing says “democracy” to the Regime Media like dismissing voters who don’t align with their agenda.

Amendment 4’s failure is a major win for the pro-life movement in Florida, and it’s clear that the abortion lobby won’t be happy. But DeSantis has shown what can happen when a governor actually follows through on his promises. Despite the best efforts of Planned Parenthood and their $100 million-dollar campaign, Floridians held the line. And with DeSantis leaving a roadmap for other states to follow, don’t be surprised if we see more conservative victories like this one.

So, as the media fumes and figures like Reid accuse anyone who disagrees with them of “fascism,” Floridians can rest easy knowing their voices were heard loud and clear. If the pro-abortion lobby wants to keep trying, let them. But with voters rejecting these extreme measures time and time again, it’s clear that Americans—yes, even in a “swing” state like Florida—aren’t buying what they’re selling. So, to the Regime Media: cry harder because Floridians are moving forward without you.
