Rebecca Lavren, 71, a great-grandmother who owns a bed and breakfast in Colorado Springs and has no criminal record, was just found guilty in DC.
Lavrenz drove across the country to attend the January 6 rally in DC and was caught up in a group of people who entered the Capitol. Before the rally, she had been outside the building praying with other rallygoers.
Lavrenz could face up to a year in prison and fines of over $200,000 after a jury deliberated for almost 26 hours which is the longest of any of the eJ6 cases.
Security footage shows Lavrenz peacefully walking inside the Capitol Building and speaking with a Capitol Police Officer. Her cell phone data corroborated evidence that she was peacefully in the building for about 10 minutes. As a result, she was charged with “entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct in a Capitol Building, and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol Building.”
When the news broke that the “praying grandma” had been convicted, Elon Musk wrote, “Not right” in response to a post about the result.

Trump also spoke out after the news broke.
“Rebecca Lavrenz, also known as the ‘J6 Praying Grandma,’ has been unfairly targeted by Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ, and now faces up to 1 YEAR in prison for peacefully walking around the Capitol, and praying for our Failing Nation on January 6th!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Rebecca is a 72-year-old Grandmother and Small Business Owner from Colorado, and now she is one of Joe Biden’s J6 HOSTAGES!!! Crooked Joe Biden spends more time prosecuting Patriots like Rebecca, AND ME, than Violent Criminals, Thugs, Murderers, and ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS who are destroying our Country. THIS IS WHAT WE ARE UP AGAINST. MAGA2024!”
