Report Counters Talking Point About Trump

Recently a report has come out bout an issue that has been brought up a lot.

You’ve probably heard the media screaming about Trump’s Project 2025.

Well, a random act of journalism has just busted the myth.

USA Today published a report in July stating that the Democrat claim Trump is behind Project 2025 is “false.”

On July 5, a Facebook post circulated nine slides detailing supposed policy propositions from former President Donald Trump, labeled under the title “Project 2025.” The post’s caption suggested that Trump had outlined authoritarian intentions through this plan. This post quickly gained traction, receiving over 500 shares within four days.

However, the claim that Project 2025 originates from Trump is false. Project 2025 is actually a political playbook created by the Heritage Foundation in collaboration with more than 100 conservative groups, not Trump. Although several individuals involved in Project 2025 worked in Trump’s first administration, Trump himself has distanced himself from the project.

The Heritage Foundation, a prominent conservative think tank, developed Project 2025, also known as the Presidential Transition Project, to provide policy recommendations for the next Republican president. This extensive playbook, over 900 pages long, aims to “rescue the country from the grip of the radical Left,” according to the Heritage Foundation. The recommendations reflect the think tank’s conservative goals and vision for the future administration.

During a campaign speech in Michigan, Trump criticized Project 2025, labeling it as radical as the far-left policies it opposes. He also took to social media to clarify his stance, stating, “I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.”

In response to the Facebook post, Project 2025 issued a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter) on July 5, emphasizing that it “does not speak for any candidate or campaign.” The statement reiterated that the playbook consists of policy suggestions that the coalition believes would benefit the next conservative president. The post added, “But it is ultimately up to that president, who we believe will be President Trump, to decide which recommendations to implement.”

Another Democrat talking point goes up in smoke.
