Social Media Posts Of Official Raises Questions

Desiree Cormier Smith, President Biden’s pick for the State Department’s first-ever “Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice,” seems less interested in justice and more committed to promoting divisive, far-left ideology. As unearthed social media posts reveal, Smith’s rhetoric is as toxic as it is troubling—and entirely unfit for someone tasked with representing the United States on the world stage.

Let’s start with the basics. Smith’s job, ostensibly, is to combat “systemic racism” and build global partnerships to promote equality. But her history of inflammatory comments tells a different story. From calling white Trump supporters racists to championing anti-police vitriol, Smith has spent years stoking division.

In one of her more jaw-dropping moments, she enthusiastically praised a leftist activist who called police officers “soulless white people” and referred to a public official as having “bulging veins of his paper-colored skin.” Smith didn’t just applaud this behavior—she called the activist “Queen Brooks” and even requested backing music for the rant. This is the person Biden thought was best equipped to represent America abroad?

“I’m not nice and I don’t seek to be respectable. I’m not asking you all for anything because y’all can’t and won’t be both my savior and my oppressor,” the leftist says in the video. “So I’m not here begging anything of soulless white folks.”

Smith’s hostility isn’t just directed at police or conservatives—it extends to the very institutions of American democracy. She’s railed against the Electoral College, labeling it a tool of racism, and advocated for reparations, claiming they’re essential for “healing.” Forget debate or dialogue—Smith’s vision for America is one where progressive orthodoxy reigns supreme, and anyone who disagrees is dismissed as a white supremacist or fascist.

Her disdain for white Americans, particularly Trump supporters, is especially glaring. In one post, she urged her white friends to “miss me with the ‘I can’t believe it was so close’ texts” after the 2020 election and to instead “go talk to your racist families and high school friends.” In another, she suggested Trump’s candidacy was proof of “white supremacy” in America. This isn’t the language of diplomacy or unity—it’s the language of a hyper-partisan activist who sees half the country as irredeemable.

And let’s not overlook her connection to George Soros’ Open Society Foundations, where she worked before joining the State Department. The organization is known for funding radical leftist causes worldwide, and Smith’s appointment is yet another example of the Biden administration’s commitment to embedding ideological warriors in key government positions.

Smith’s comments about white diplomats are equally egregious. In a podcast interview, she accused them of being overly “protective” of the U.S. and lacking the “humility” of their non-white counterparts. Imagine the outrage if a government official made a similar claim about diplomats of any other race. But for Smith, it’s apparently acceptable to denigrate entire groups based on skin color—as long as those groups don’t align with her worldview.

The Biden administration’s obsession with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) has placed people like Smith in powerful roles where their divisive rhetoric undermines the very institutions they’re supposed to serve. Thankfully, with President Trump set to return to the White House, there’s hope for a much-needed course correction. Trump has pledged to purge DEI ideology from the federal government, and Smith should be at the top of that list.

As Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) aptly put it, the State Department is supposed to protect American interests—not divide Americans or damage our credibility abroad. Smith’s tenure has done nothing but fan the flames of division, and her removal can’t come soon enough. The American people deserve a government that unites them, not one that lectures them with condescension and contempt.
