In the political arena, as we inch closer to the 2024 general election, strategies are being sharpened, and strategies are coming into clearer focus. Recently, Lara Trump, the newly appointed co-chair of the Republican National Committee and daughter-in-law to former President Donald Trump, sat down with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’s “Mornings with Maria” to shed light on the key states the RNC is zeroing in on to boost Trump’s reelection chances.
Lara Trump underscored the importance of every state in the electoral puzzle but highlighted five states that are especially crucial for the Republican National Committee’s strategy. These states, according to her, are Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Each of these states carries its unique political landscape and challenges, making them pivotal battlegrounds in the upcoming election.
This is different from what we’ve seen in the past.
“Every state matters, obviously, but there are the key battleground states I think as Micheal [Wheatly] mentioned that we really do have to focus on,” Lara Trump remarked, emphasizing the strategic importance of these states in the campaign’s overall strategy.
Focusing on Pennsylvania, a state that has shown a significant lead for President Joe Biden over Donald Trump by 10 percentage points in recent polls, Lara Trump acknowledged its critical role in the election. However, the scenario seems more optimistic for Trump in Arizona, a key battleground on the southern border, where he is currently leading over Biden. Wisconsin presents a tighter race, with Biden polling slightly ahead of Trump, making it another significant focus for the RNC.
Michigan, which played a pivotal role in the 2016 election, is also on the RNC’s radar, with Lara Trump expressing confidence in recapturing the state for Donald Trump. A March poll showing Trump ahead of Biden by three percentage points in Michigan underscores the competitive nature of the race there.
Georgia, a state that flipped blue in the 2020 election for the first time in decades, is another key focus for the Trump campaign. With Trump narrowly leading Biden in polls, the state is poised for intense political competition. Lara Trump’s mention of a “huge fundraising haul” from Georgia next week for President Trump signals the campaign’s high stakes in the state.
Interestingly, Lara Trump did not mention North Carolina or Nevada, two states that the Biden campaign is also closely watching, with North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper advocating for his state’s potential flip in 2024.
Lastly, Lara Trump highlighted the strategic emphasis on 19 key counties across the country, essential for securing Donald Trump’s return to the presidency. “All the battleground states we’re highly focused on,” she said, underlining the a targeted approach the RNC is taking towards the 2024 general election.
What’s going on right now at the RNC is like night and day from the previous leadership.
