Well, it seems Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is continuing his audition for Vice President on The View, and let’s just say, it didn’t go so well. When confronted with a pretty simple question—how would a Harris-Walz ticket differ from the Biden-Harris administration—Walz fumbled around like he’d been asked to solve a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded.
NEW: Governor Tim Walz brags about all his trophies after The View host Joy Behar asks about how right-wingers are making fun of his gun-handling skills.
Lmao.
Behar: Right now, right-wingers are coming after you for how you handle your shotgun.
Walz: Well, I can shoot better… pic.twitter.com/ysIXmlfCwH

It’s no secret that voters are looking for change in this election. According to a poll by ABC, only a third of Americans believe a Harris-Walz ticket would bring that change. So when Sara Haines asked Walz to name one, just one, policy decision that he or Kamala Harris would have handled differently than President Biden, it seemed like a prime opportunity for him to differentiate their ticket. But what does Walz come up with? Medicare. And not even an actual policy difference, just a wish that Harris would have “proposed sooner” the very same policies that have been part of Biden’s administration.

Seriously, that’s the best he’s got? Medicare expansion? Not a great start if your goal is to prove you’re anything more than a Biden 2.0 ticket with a different name. The truth is, Walz couldn’t point to a single concrete example of where he and Harris would diverge from the guy they’ve been following for the past four years. It’s the same stale policies dressed up with some vague notion of “change” that even Walz couldn’t quite articulate.
Of course, when in doubt, blame Trump! Walz quickly pivoted to the pandemic, claiming Trump left Biden and Harris with a “mess” that they had to clean up. Sure, that’s an easy scapegoat, but at some point, doesn’t the Biden-Harris administration have to take responsibility for their own handling of the last four years? After all, they’ve been the ones in charge. Walz then rambled about how Harris is her “own leader” with a “new way forward” but couldn’t back that up with any real examples.
“The ability to politicize the military has never been tried in this country. [Trump is] trying it.”

He threw in a little Minnesota flavor for good measure, talking about how he’s been putting “meals in schools” and “trying to get guns out of them.” Okay, Tim, sure, but how exactly does that set you and Kamala apart from Biden? It all just sounds like the same old Democratic playbook, repackaged with a little Midwestern charm.
Walz’s appearance didn’t do much to convince anyone that this Harris-Walz ticket would bring any real change. If anything, it highlighted how tethered they are to the Biden administration’s policies. If they can’t name a single thing they’d do differently, why should voters expect anything other than more of the same?
