Ah, Chuck Schumer—never one to let a good crisis go to waste. The man has made a career out of standing in front of microphones and confidently stating things that simply aren’t true. This time, he took the terrifying Delta jet crash in Toronto and used it as an opportunity to launch a baseless attack on the Trump administration, hoping nobody would bother to check the facts. Unfortunately for him, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt actually does her job and swiftly dismantled his nonsense.

Let’s be clear: the crash happened in Canada. The plane was in Canadian airspace. It was handled by Canadian air traffic control. And yet, somehow, in Schumer’s mind, it was all Trump’s fault because of supposed “layoffs” at the FAA—which, by the way, never happened. But facts have never been Schumer’s strong suit. His go-to move is to say something blatantly false, wait for the media to nod along approvingly, and then double down when he’s called out.

When Leavitt pointed out that no air traffic controllers or safety personnel had been fired, Schumer still wouldn’t let it go. Instead, he did what all seasoned political hacks do—moved the goalposts. Suddenly, he wasn’t directly blaming Trump’s FAA “cuts” for this crash, he was just making a general observation that “fewer FAA personnel” means the skies are “less safe.” This is the same guy who, just minutes earlier, was ranting on the Senate floor about how Trump had fired “hundreds of FAA staffers” and that it was “reckless” in the wake of a crash that had absolutely nothing to do with the FAA. But sure, Chuck, tell us more about how you’re the reasonable one here.

And let’s not forget, this isn’t a one-time thing for Schumer. This is a pattern. He pulls this stunt all the time—saying something inflammatory, getting caught in the lie, then pretending he never said it. Just look at his infamous 2020 threats against Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. Standing outside the Court, he shouted, “You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price! You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions!”

After outrage erupted over what was obviously an attempt to intimidate conservative justices, Schumer did what Schumer always does—backpedaled. Suddenly, he wasn’t threatening justices at all! No, he was just talking about “political consequences” for Senate Republicans. Classic. If you ever wonder why people don’t trust politicians, just watch how effortlessly Schumer lies and then rewrites history when he’s caught.

The real question here is why the so-called mainstream media refuses to hold him accountable. If Trump had made a claim even half as ridiculous as Schumer’s FAA conspiracy theory, every outlet from CNN to the New York Times would be running breathless fact-checks about how he’s “endangering democracy” by spreading misinformation. But when Schumer blatantly lies? Silence. Maybe a half-hearted “Republicans push back” headline buried on page 17.

At the end of the day, Schumer knows exactly what he’s doing. He knows the media won’t challenge him, so he can say whatever he wants, knowing it’ll be echoed by every liberal talking head and blue-check activist on social media. And if someone like Leavitt or the actual FAA officials corrects him, he just pivots to another dishonest narrative. It’s a never-ending cycle.

The bottom line? Whenever Schumer opens his mouth, assume he’s lying until proven otherwise. The real tragedy here isn’t that he keeps getting away with it—it’s that the media lets him.
