Forty-three days. That is how long it has been since Senator Mitch McConnell fell in Washington and ended up in a hospital bed. Now, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has sent a second, sharp letter to the Senator.
He wants proof that McConnell can still do the job or he wants him to step down. In his most recent note, Beshear stated that 43 days have passed since the news of your hospitalization broke.. The silence from the Senate office is loud, and the people back home are asking hard questions.
The Governor is not asking for a medical exam. He is asking for a simple video or a radio call to show the Senator is awake and aware. According to reports, reporters were informed that all we’re asking is just a little bit of proof..
The current update from the doctor is not enough. It does not say if the Senator can speak, reason, or vote. Beshear pointed out that even the attending physician’s written statement does not discuss your actual condition.. This leaves families guessing and the Senate short a vote.

Here is the situation: McConnell has not cast a single vote since June 14. He has done no official work. Beshear sent a copy of this letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune as well. He asked Thune to investigate the condition if McConnell does not show he can serve.
The Governor argues that privacy rules change when you run for high office. Beshear remarked that when you run for these jobs, you know you’re giving some of that privacy up..
The letter to McConnell is direct. Writing under the assumption that he is capable of reading and responding verbally, Beshear said he is addressing it.. If that is not true, the Governor demands the staff be honest with the people of Kentucky.
