Watching CNN’s Kaitlan Collins feign confusion over whether illegal immigrants are getting medical care on the taxpayer’s dime is like watching a Broadway performance — scripted, practiced, and about as believable as a magician pulling a rabbit out of his hat. She knows. They all know. Anyone who’s spent five minutes in a hospital knows.
Republican strategist Scott Jennings politely explained it to her — again — but Collins played the part of the incredulous host, pretending the entire system isn’t being gamed. That’s not ignorance. That’s willful denial. And the script is always the same: act shocked, question the facts, then pivot to outrage when anyone dares to point out what’s happening in plain sight.

Here’s reality: under federal law, emergency rooms must treat anyone who walks through the door, no questions asked. That includes illegal immigrants. Hospitals can’t demand payment upfront, and they can’t refuse care. They stabilize the patient, treat the immediate problem, and discharge them. The bill then gets shuffled into the ether, either absorbed by the hospital, shifted onto paying patients, or covered by Medicaid reimbursements — which come straight out of taxpayer pockets. Doctors, nurses, and administrators will tell you this privately because they live it every day.
But Democrats and their media allies refuse to admit it because they know how bad it sounds when put plainly: American citizens are footing the bill for non-citizens’ healthcare. They spin it as “compassion,” but the bottom line is the working families in flyover states are subsidizing ER visits for people who crossed the border illegally.

And the kicker? The same Democrats pushing this policy are trying to expand it even further, pushing for full access to Medicaid for asylum seekers, parolees, and those “awaiting status.” Collins isn’t dumb; she’s running cover for a party that can’t defend its own position out loud.
So yes, illegal immigrants are receiving medical care paid for by taxpayers. No, they’re not paying the bills. And yes, the media will keep pretending it isn’t happening because once Americans hear it straight, they get angry. Very angry. And angry voters don’t keep Democrats in power.
