President Donald Trump stated Tuesday that Iran is doing very poorly and will ultimately give up. He made this comment after reporters asked if the regime was nearing a point of surrender. Trump said the conflict would end very, very soon.
The President reiterated that stopping Tehran from getting a nuclear weapon remains the main goal. This stance comes as the Iranian currency crashes to new lows against the dollar. The administration views this financial collapse as proof their pressure tactics are working.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent pointed to the currency collapse as evidence of tightening financial pressure. Monday saw him write that “Operation Economic Outcast has caused the rial to hit record lows.” The rial crashed past 2.5 million to the U.S. dollar on Tuesday. Just one day earlier, it had fallen to roughly 2.4 million.
Before the war began in February, the currency stood at about 1.7 million to the dollar. Bessent warned that the blockade is rapidly exhausting the crude oil Iran has left. He estimated Tehran has roughly two weeks before its final shipments reach China. “Then they have nothing left to trade for anything,” Bessent said, according to Breitbart. The U.S. blockade has already reduced Iran’s own exports to zero.

Iranian officials admit the attacks on their energy sector have caused serious damage. Government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani confirmed the loss of 230 million cubic meters of gas. “We suffered damage due to the attacks on the energy sector,” she said, according to Breitbart. While we work to bring back 100 million cubic meters, the attacks led to a loss of 230 million cubic meters.
Local governors have warned about possible fuel shortages in northern provinces for up to 90 days. State media in Tehran reports long lines at gas stations and drivers abandoning their cars. Last month, taxi drivers in eastern Iran struck to protest fuel ration cuts.
Today’s action underscores that no cartel kingpin, corrupt Mexican government official, or financial facilitator is beyond the reach of Treasury’s authorities. The regime recently required government employees to use public transportation to get to work. This move aims to save fuel while the country faces supply problems. Gas prices have also been raised by up to 100 percent over the past month.

The administration plans to keep applying pressure until the regime stops funding terrorism. “We will continue to degrade the Iranian regime’s ability to fund terrorism and develop a nuclear weapon,” stated Secretary Bessent. The goal is to force a deal that the Iranians will actually stick to.
SECRETARY RUBIO: If Iran had a nuclear weapon, with which it could threaten its neighbors and the world, no one would be able to do anything about the Straits. They’d be able to control the Straits, charge a toll, and decide who got energy and who did not get energy. pic.twitter.com/E9Rx9VKSpL

According to reports, his role is to guarantee that when a deal arrives, they intend to uphold it. The economic strain is already causing internal unrest within the country. The economic collapse triggered large protests before the current war.
Iran’s economic decline has sped up due to the most intensive bombing campaign since the Gulf War. The combination of sanctions and the naval blockade sent the currency tumbling to its worst position yet. The numbers show the strategy is hitting its target.
