DOJ Announces New Effort

Here’s something that should be so basic, so noncontroversial, that everyone in America could agree on: cleaning up the voter rolls so only people legally eligible to vote can cast a ballot. Sounds like common sense, right? Well, apparently not if you’re a Democrat.

The Trump Justice Department just announced a nationwide initiative to scrub the rolls ahead of the 2026 midterms. The Civil Rights Division is notifying states — including California, Wisconsin, Utah, and New Hampshire — that they’ve been falling short on federal requirements to keep their voter lists accurate. This means purging duplicate registrations, cleaning up outdated entries, and yes, removing non-citizens or illegal aliens who have no business voting in U.S. elections.

“Unlike the previous administration, at President Trump’s DOJ, we will fight to have fair and secure elections — and that begins with making our voter rolls accurate,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said.

This should be an easy win for both sides. But time and again, Democrats have fought efforts like these tooth and nail. They resist voter ID requirements. They resist audits. They resist basic list maintenance. Why? The excuses range from “disenfranchisement” to “racism,” but let’s be real — it’s about keeping a loose system they can exploit when needed.

Consider the numbers: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced just last month that over 100 potential noncitizens cast more than 200 ballots in prior elections. How many illegal votes are acceptable? Zero. But for the Left, even bringing this up is somehow controversial.

It gets worse. The Public Interest Legal Foundation reviewed New York’s voter rolls and found nearly 50,000 registrants who are also registered in another state. Almost 25,000 of them are also on the rolls in Florida. Thousands more are double-listed in North Carolina and New Jersey. The review even found nearly 4,000 registrants with placeholder or fake birthdates going back to the early 1900s. This is election integrity?

And then there’s the elephant in the room: newly declassified documents from DNI Tulsi Gabbard and FBI Director Kash Patel show that the bureau failed to fully investigate credible intelligence about Communist China trying to hijack the 2020 election through a mail-in ballot scheme aimed at helping Joe Biden.

Yet Democrats don’t want to talk about that. They’d rather frame any attempt to fix these problems as an attack on democracy. It’s nonsense.

This isn’t about disenfranchising anyone. It’s about restoring confidence in elections. And if that makes Democrats nervous, maybe that tells us all we need to know.
