Federal agents raiding the home of John Bolton — former national security adviser and one of Donald Trump’s fiercest critics — was bound to ignite political fireworks. And it did.
Within hours, liberal commentators were shrieking about “authoritarianism,” claiming Trump had weaponized law enforcement to punish an enemy. But as so often happens, the narrative collapsed almost immediately. The New York Times now confirms that the investigation didn’t begin with Trump at all — it was launched and advanced under the Biden administration.

According to intelligence officials, U.S. agencies obtained information from a foreign spy service suggesting Bolton had mishandled classified materials. Specifically, while still working in the Trump White House, Bolton allegedly sent sensitive details to close contacts — including his wife and daughter — over an unclassified email system.
That revelation paints a far different picture. Biden’s intelligence community had the evidence. Biden’s DOJ had the authority to act. Biden’s administration could have moved forward with a raid years ago. Instead, they sat on it. Why? That’s the question no one in the press seems eager to ask.
Only now, under Trump, has the investigation burst back into public view — with warrants signed off by independent magistrates in both Maryland and Washington, D.C. The charges may or may not stick, but the process is plainly lawful.
Susan Glasser, the wife of the NYT’s chief WH correspondent Peter Baker, wrote that the Bolton raid was “retribution” and “revenge vibes were strong”

In the end, the irony is rich. The same pundits who spent years defending Biden’s DOJ for targeting parents at school board meetings, raiding pro-life activists, and slow-walking Hunter Biden’s case suddenly discovered their “principles” the moment Bolton’s name came up.
But the facts are simple. Mishandling classified material is a crime no matter who commits it — whether it’s Bolton, Hillary Clinton, or Joe Biden himself with documents in his garage. Bolton may be a Trump critic. He may be a media darling. None of that puts him above the law.
