Michigan Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell is once again finding herself at the center of an online firestorm, this time over a profanity-laced exchange that quickly spread across social media.
The video, which began circulating this week, shows Dingell angrily defending her record while responding to criticism regarding U.S. policy toward Cuba and Venezuela. The footage appears to capture only part of the interaction. The question directed at the congresswoman is not audible, and the video ends before the full exchange can be heard.
What is clear is that Dingell was not in a particularly patient mood.
“I don’t appreciate being told we’re not doing enough when I f*cking voted on two war resolutions this week,” Dingell says in the clip. She continued by arguing that lawmakers like herself have been vocal in criticizing actions taken by foreign governments, adding, “people like me are standing up and saying what he’s doing in Cuba is wrong.”
Dingell then shifted her frustration toward Michigan voters, pointing out that Republicans currently control the House of Representatives.
“You’re f*cking elected a Republican Congress in this state,” she said.
The comments immediately drew attention online, with critics highlighting both the tone and language of the exchange. Supporters, meanwhile, argued that the congresswoman was expressing frustration over legislative realities and the limitations faced by House Democrats.

Part of Dingell’s frustration appears connected to recent congressional votes involving military action. House members recently rejected H.Con.Res. 61, a measure that sought to remove U.S. forces from conflicts involving designated terrorist organizations in parts of the Western Hemisphere. The resolution failed by a vote of 216 to 210.
For lawmakers who supported the measure, the outcome represented another example of how difficult it can be to advance legislation when control of the chamber rests with the opposing party.
This is not the first time Dingell has generated widespread attention online.
In May 2025, she became the subject of viral headlines after video appeared to show her asleep during a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing. Dingell strongly rejected that characterization, explaining that she had been awake for 31 consecutive hours while working on legislative efforts related to Medicaid and opposing Republican proposals.
The explanation sparked its own debate, but the incident ensured that Dingell remained a frequent topic of political discussion well beyond her district.
Dingell has served in Congress since 2015 and currently represents Michigan’s 6th Congressional District. Over the years, she has built a reputation as a vocal advocate on a range of domestic and foreign policy issues, but the latest video shows a different side of the veteran lawmaker: one visibly irritated by accusations that she and her allies are not doing enough.
