Crockett Levels Serious Accusation Against Trump’s Record

During a fiery segment on CNN’s The Situation Room Wednesday night, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) did not hold back when addressing President Donald Trump’s legal history, delivering a blistering assessment that placed him, in her words, as “more corrupt and more criminal than any other president we’ve had.”

Crockett’s comments came in response to host Pamela Brown’s question referencing former Rep. Marlin Stutzman, who earlier defended Trump by emphasizing the sheer number of investigations the president has faced — and yet, according to Stutzman, the lack of substantiated wrongdoing. Brown asked simply: What do you make of that?

Crockett’s response was swift and unsparing. “They will do and say anything to cover themselves,” she began, before acknowledging the unprecedented level of scrutiny Trump has faced. “I will admit that Donald Trump has been investigated more than the normal,” she said. “But he just happens to be more corrupt and more criminal than any other president than we’ve had.”

To underscore her point, Crockett pointed to the 34 felony convictions delivered by a New York jury, making Trump the first U.S. president to carry such a record.

While she acknowledged the legal ambiguity surrounding some ongoing investigations, she challenged Trump’s defenders directly, questioning why — if innocent — the president would allegedly work behind the scenes to prevent the release of potentially exculpatory information.

“If you know that you didn’t do anything, then why is it that you would be twisting members of your own party’s arms, trying to get them not to release it?” Crockett asked rhetorically. “This would be exonerating. If you know that you are free and clear, then why not say, you know what, release the files?”

Meanwhile, Republicans continue to rally around Trump, often framing the multiple investigations as politically motivated efforts to derail his re-election bid.

The contrast in messaging couldn’t be sharper: to some, Trump is a persecuted outsider; to others, a convicted felon unfit for office.

Whether Crockett’s condemnation resonates beyond her party’s base remains to be seen, but it serves as a stark reminder of how deep the divisions over Trump’s legacy have grown — and how central those divisions will remain as the 2026 election cycle takes shape.
