AP Retracts Story About Israel

In the wake of a violent antisemitic attack in Boulder, Colorado, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee is turning up the heat on mainstream media outlets, demanding public retractions and apologies for what he describes as reckless reporting that amplified Hamas propaganda and directly contributed to rising antisemitic violence in the United States.

At the center of the firestorm is a false claim pushed by Hamas that Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinian civilians near an aid distribution center operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) — a Trump-administration-backed initiative aimed at bypassing Hamas’ stranglehold on international aid and delivering free food directly to Palestinian civilians.

The claim, first broadcast by Hamas through its so-called “Gaza health ministry,” alleged that dozens of Palestinians were shot and killed near the GHF aid site by Israeli troops. The story was quickly parroted by Western media outlets, including:

  • CNN: “At least 26 Palestinians killed after Israeli forces open fire near Gaza aid distribution center, health workers say” — later revised to a vaguer headline.
  • BBC: Initially ran with “31 dead after Israeli tanks open fire,” before changing it to emphasize Israel’s denial.
  • The Washington Post: Persisted in publishing the claim with little skepticism, citing Hamas-affiliated sources.

However, drone footage, eyewitness accounts, and photographic evidence later revealed that no such attack occurred. There were no fatalities, no injuries, and no chaos, according to U.S. officials, aid workers, and local witnesses.

In a scathing statement released by the U.S. Embassy in Israel, Huckabee accused the media of engaging in “dangerous propaganda” by uncritically spreading Hamas disinformation. The ambassador tied the false reporting directly to the Boulder Molotov attack, in which an illegal alien set fire to a group of pro-Israel demonstrators while shouting pro-Hamas slogans.

“Reckless and irresponsible reporting… is contributing to the antisemitic climate that has resulted in the murder of two young people at an Israeli Embassy event in Washington and the attempted murder and terror attack in Colorado,” the statement reads.

Huckabee specifically called out CNN, The New York Times, and the Associated Press for running Hamas-fed claims without independent verification, noting that such reporting isn’t just journalistic failure — it’s fueling real-world violence.

“It represents more than mere sloppy journalism. It’s feeding and inciting violence against innocent people in the United States.”

Contrary to the widely circulated headlines, GHF sources confirmed that the aid drop was peaceful, with over 5 million meals distributed to Palestinian civilians without interference or violence. Images from the site show smiling recipients and orderly operations — a stark contrast to the narrative pushed by Hamas and recycled by major media.

One source from GHF told Breitbart News the fabricated story was a deliberate attempt to discredit their operations, since GHF delivers aid directly, undermining Hamas’ ability to control, steal, and resell international food aid for profit and power.

Huckabee’s demand for formal retractions isn’t just about a single story — it’s a warning about the perils of credulous reporting in conflict zones, especially where terror groups like Hamas operate with a clear agenda.

The ambassador’s statement underscores the direct link between false international narratives and domestic terror, pointing to the Boulder firebombing, the Israeli Embassy shooting in Washington, and the general rise in antisemitic incidents tied to misinformation about the Middle East.
