Peter Doocy, the Fox News White House correspondent, once again battled it out against Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre as part of the daily briefing held Wednesday, questioning her on just why Old Uncle Joe thought that the gas companies would try and held him if his administration only sought to put them out of business.
Doocy issued that question to Jean-Pierre just after the recent announcement from the president that he planned to pull even more oil out of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) with the express intent to sell it off, then buy it back when the price of oil drops back down to roughly $70 per barrel.

Doocy kicked things off by highlighting that Biden had, again, chosen to throw the blame on gas companies for pulling in record-shattering profits while failing to drop their prices back down for the consumer, and questioned just why the administration that had, on numerous occasions, demonized and harmed the oil industry thought that the same gas companies would actually do anything at all to assist them.
“So, you’re asking oil companies to further lower gas prices. What makes you think they are going to listen to an administration that is ultimately trying to put them out of business?”
“How? How is the administration trying to put them out of business?” asked the Press Secretary.
“Well, they produce fossil fuels and this president says he wants to end fossil fuel,” answered Doocy.
“So look, you kind of asked me this question yesterday,” Jean-Pierre attempted to deflect. “Here’s what we would say: U.S. oil production is up and on track to reach a record high next year. We’ve seen that from their … when we see their profit margins. They are — they — you know, they — it’s record high.”
These comments from Jean-Pierre took place directly in the wake of an announcement from Biden which explained the energy strategy for the administration, after which he claimed to “debunk” a known myth concerning oil production domestically.
“Let’s debunk some myths here. My administration has not stopped or slowed U.S. oil production. Quite the opposite. We’re producing 12 million barrels of oil per day and by the end of this year, we will be producing one million barrels a day more than the day which I took office,” expressed Biden.
Republicans sitting on the House Judiciary Committee fired back against the claims from the president with a singular strong word: “Liar.”
