When Donald Trump sits down with a world leader, the media meltdown is as predictable as the sunrise. And sure enough, MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace delivered the latest hysterical performance after Trump’s Friday meeting with Vladimir Putin in Anchorage.
Wallace, host of Deadline: White House and a veteran of being wrong about almost everything, ranted live on air that Trump “doesn’t give a shit about democracy,” claiming he doesn’t care about allies, sovereignty, or freedom.
The theatrics reached peak MSNBC when she likened the meeting to sending a child to school under the threat of Russian bombs. Overwrought? Absolutely. Effective? Not in the least.
President Trump, never one to let a tantrum go unanswered, blasted Wallace on Truth Social over the weekend. “She is a loser, with bad ratings, who was already thrown off of The View. She will be fired soon! MSNBC IS DEAD!” he wrote, echoing the sentiment of his supporters who watched yet another anchor dissolve into partisan rage.
It’s worth noting that while Wallace was spinning herself into knots on camera, Trump was conducting serious diplomacy. The former president flew into Alaska aboard a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber — a visual reminder of American strength — before meeting Putin on the tarmac. The subject: exploring a potential peace agreement in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
That’s right. While Wallace fulminated about Trump supposedly betraying democracy, he was doing what the Biden administration has failed to accomplish in nearly three years: opening the door to peace talks.
But nuance has never been Wallace’s strength. She has built her brand on being the “Typhoid Mary of Disinformation,” as one meme circulating on Truth Social described her. And the cracks are showing. Her ratings lag, her credibility is shot, and her latest meltdown only reinforced the perception that she is a partisan performer, not a journalist.
Trump has predicted her firing is imminent. Given her track record — and the fact that even The View booted her — that doesn’t seem far-fetched.
