The Democrat Mayor of El Paso rushed forward to defend the plan from his city to bus out illegal immigrants almost 2,200 miles northeast to New York City, claiming that the struggling West Texan city is just trying to help them reach their desired ultimate destination.
Mayor Oscar Leeser, while speaking on a segment of “This Week” on ABC, stated that these migrants are being dealt with in a very human manner, despite various Republican leaders, such as Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX), receiving extreme criticism from Democrat leadership for exporting the migrants out to blue states and more left-wing cities. Leeser stated that just about 2,000 illegal migrants are surging into his city on a day-by-day basis.
“The people are not coming to El Paso, they’re coming to America,” explained Leeser, who held the role of mayor from 2013-2017 and was then brought back into the office this past year. “We don’t send anyone where they don’t want to go. We make sure we help them.”
“We put them on buses with food and make sure they get to their destination and make sure that we always continue to greet and treat people like human beings,” he went on.

Abbott, along with fellow Republican governors Ron DeSantis of Florida, and Doug Ducey of Arizona, have been shipping out illegal immigrants to Democrat cities and states in order to force attention onto the ever-escalating border problems. Roughly 2 million illegal immigrants have surged across the border into the country in the wake of President Joe Biden taking office and repealing quite a few major components of the border security policies of former President Donald Trump.
“President Biden’s inaction at our southern border continues putting the lives of Texans — and Americans — at risk and is overwhelming our communities,” stated Abbott this past month. “To continue providing much-needed relief to our small, overrun border towns, Chicago will join fellow sanctuary cities Washington, D.C., and New York City as an additional drop-off location.”
Abbott’s office claimed that well over 7,700 illegal migrants have been shipped over to Washington and another 2,100 have been sent ot New York since this past April. The state has made use of an estimated $12 million for the chartering of the busses used to move the migrants.
Despite Democrats having hurled accusations at the GOP leaders concerning “human trafficking” for the practice, they have not spoken about Leeser at all. Leeser and El Paso’s Democrat-dominated city council have moved well over 30 buses full of illegal migrants out to New York in the past month and are looking into reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the costs incurred in the event.
It has been reported by Fox News that El Paso’s city council recently pushed through a $2 million, 16-month contract to carry on with the moving of the illegal immigrants out of the city.
