Tragedy has struck the technology world today as Cash App founder Bob Lee has been fatally stabbed in what police are calling a murder.
The San Francisco Police Department arrested 38–year–old tech entrepreneur Nima Momeni on Thursday morning on murder charges stemming from the fatal stabbing of Lee.
Police found Lee “suffering from apparent stab wounds” and he was transported to a local hospital with life–threatening injuries, but he succumbed to his injuries.
Momeni, who owns Expand IT, Inc., is a “dedicated technology partner” and works with clients in the Healthcare, Finance, High Tech/Startup, Technology, Manufacturing and Service sectors.
Witnesses say that the two men were reportedly driving together in a car registered to Momeni when a confrontation broke out. CCTV footage then showed Lee staggering after being stabbed and trying to flag down cars for help but was ignored by drivers.
Mission Local, which was the first to officially report on the arrest, stated that the two men knew each other and “were purportedly driving together through downtown San Francisco in a car registered to the suspect” the very same day Lee was murdered
Joshua Goldbard, CEO of MobileCoin, said of Lee, “Our dear friend and colleague, Bob Lee passed away yesterday at the age of 43, survived by a loving family and collection of close friends and collaborators,”
He continued on to state that “Bob was a dynamo, a force of nature. Bob was the genuine article. He was made for the world that is being born right now, he was a child of dreams, and whatever he imagined, no matter how crazy, he made real.”
The technology world is mourning the loss of Bob Lee and the police are continuing their investigation into the murder. We will keep you updated as more information is released.
