Senator Sanders Has Outburst During Hearing

The fireworks on Capitol Hill Thursday weren’t just political theater — they were a rare moment of honesty about the corrupt marriage between Washington and Big Pharma. What was supposed to be a routine Senate Finance Committee oversight hearing turned into a three-hour slugfest, as Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sparred with senators over his shake-ups at the CDC, his appointments of vaccine skeptics to federal advisory boards, and his controversial decision to narrow eligibility for COVID-19 shots.

Democrats arrived with claws out, hoping to corner Kennedy as a conspiracy-mongering crank. Republicans came ready to demand answers about broken promises and whether he would restrict access to vaccines. But the real moment — the one that cut through the shouting — came from Sen. Bernie Sanders, who accidentally said what everyone already knew: the Senate Finance Committee is bought and paid for by the pharmaceutical industry.

There it was. The quiet part, out loud.

That comment reframed the entire circus. For years, Kennedy has been ridiculed for raising alarms about regulatory capture — the cozy revolving door between government agencies and the industries they’re supposed to oversee. Yet here was Sanders, a senior senator, essentially conceding that the pharmaceutical lobby has its hooks in the very committee tasked with overseeing the nation’s health policies.

Kennedy, for his part, didn’t flinch. He batted away the charge that he’s blocking vaccines, repeating what he’s said all along: that people can still access them, but HHS will no longer rubber-stamp products without strong clinical evidence. He reminded lawmakers that public trust in the CDC and FDA collapsed for a reason — because those institutions lied, again and again, during COVID. From the “six-foot rule” invented out of thin air, to mask mandates that accomplished nothing, to vaccines oversold as a silver bullet, Americans were force-fed “settled science” that collapsed under the weight of reality.

And here’s the rub: you don’t have to agree with Kennedy on every vaccine question to see the hypocrisy of his critics. This is the same medical establishment that presided over school closures, economic devastation, and coercive mandates, all while moving goalposts and suppressing dissent. To call Kennedy a “kook” for asking hard questions is rich coming from institutions that shredded their own credibility in record time.
