Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) issued a cryptic warning for the National Institutes of Health, making demands of the group to safeguard all communications and all other documents that are currently in the possession of Dr. Anthony Fauci as his retirement quickly comes closer.
Paul put forth a document — the contents of which were publically unveiled by The Daily Caller — addressed to the NIH, calling on them to ensure that they preserve all emails, records, electronic documents, and any other data that Fauci shared or created while working with the NIH. Paul also asked that they take extreme caution in the preservation of any and all data or communications regarding COVID or any coronavirus-related research conducted by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) while Fauci held the top spot.
“In light of this announcement, I formally request you ensure the preservation of all documents and communications within Dr. Fauci’s possession related to his tenure at the National Institutes of Health (NIH),” Paul exclaimed when he learned about the recently announced retirement from Fauci from his roles within the government.
“This information is critical to ensure that Congress has access to information necessary to conduct proper oversight regarding events that took place during Dr. Fauci’s tenure with the agency. Specifically, I request you preserve all records, e-mail, electronic documents, and data created by or shared with Dr. Fauci during his tenure at NIH that relate to COVID-19 including, but not limited to, NIAID-funded coronavirus research. This preservation request also includes all records of official business conducted on non official accounts,” he went on.
Both Fauci and Paul have been at each other throats concerning the federal governments handling of the pandemic and of Fauci’s role in supporting and potentially funding the type of gain-of-function style research that many, including Paul, think may have been the cause of the spread of COVID-19 from a lab leak.
In the wake of Fauci publically announcing his intent to depart from the federal government at the end of the year, Paul made it quite clear that he was not finishing in his crusade to find answers about the country’s top doc, and he went on to state that retirement would not “protect” Fauci from being placed under ivnestigation if the need arrised.
In the same vein, Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) seemingly echoes the sentimenets from Paul, explaining on Monday to Sean hannity, a host for Fox News, that if Republcans managed to take back either the Senate or the Hosue for 20202, Fauci will most likely be the target of some kind of investigation.
As expressed by Kennedy, Fauci was most likely to spend “a lot of time in front of a congressional committee” unless he were to take steps to “seek asylum in some foreign country whose Powerball jackpot is 287 chickens and a goat.”
