House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) recently lashed out during an interview with MSNBC in response to House GOP members’ call for an investigation into President Joe Biden’s potential involvement in his son Hunter Biden’s alleged criminal activities.
The former Speaker argued that any suggestion of an impeachment was a “frivolous” and “diversionary tactic” meant to dig up “nothing to offer the American people.”
Host Andrea Mitchell, on the other hand, pushed Pelosi further by pointing out that she was “very cautious” when it came to the prospect of impeaching Donald Trump while in office.
Pelosi, however, brushed off the suggestion, instead comparing the Republican Party to a cult and blaming Trump for its behavior. “They have to change the subject and they have nothing to offer the American people in terms of jobs and the rest. They talk about it, but then they change the subject when it’s time to deliver,” she said.
The Speaker was also quick to applaud Democrats in Congress and their intentions to take back the House in the next term. “I’m so proud of the Democrats in the Congress,” Pelosi said. “We fully intend to take back the House next time so we don’t have to deal with the frivolity, the waste of time of the Congress for them to go down this path.”
Pelosi’s remarks came as several republican lawmakers such as Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif) have called for investigations on the Biden family. This followed allegations made by IRS whistleblowers claiming to have evidence of Hunter Biden’s alleged criminal activity.
The allegations have been labeled unfounded and false by the White House and Democratic leaders. President Biden has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
Despite the lack of evidence against the President, Democrats are still in full swing in their push to regain control of the House in 2022. Time will tell if the GOP is successful in its attempts to find evidence or if Pelosi’s words ring true; that they have nothing to offer the American people and are attempting to use Hunter Biden’s alleged criminal activities as a “diversionary tactic”.
