The legal team for Odell Beckham Jr has finally spoken out in the wake of the wide receiver being reportedly forcibly ejected from a flight with Americans Airlines that was slated to go from Miami to Los Angeles.
Daniel Davilier, the attorney in question, put forth this statement just a scant few hours after his client had been walked out of and off the flight, stating that what the flight crew for American Airlines had as the NFL player fading into and out of consciousness was just him falling asleep.

In another statement, Davilier made the claim that Beckham had simply been dozing off and had pulled a blanket up to cover his face “which is his normal practice for long flights” — and had only just woken up as the members of the crew told him that they had gone back to the gate and that he would need to get off the plane for failure to fasten his seatbelt and requested to do so.
“He responded that he was asleep, and that he would put his seatbelt on at that time. He was informed that it was too late, and that either he would have to get off the plane or everyone would have to deplane,” the statement went on.
The statement went on to highlight that the crew did end up having to take everyone off of the plane — but did note that the luggage Beckham had brought had still be sent out as normal to Los Angeles.
“Sleeping on a plane should not be a cause for removal from a flight,” the statement concluded, making the argument that if flight crews could take steps to wake him up while at the gate, they could have just done so much earlier to alleviated the entire situation as a whole.
As stated by American Airlines — which got assistance from the Miami-Dade Police Department — a number of members of the flight crew had concerns due to Beckham appearing to go into and out of consciousness before the plane took off.
Additionally, as stated by the airline, Beckham refused to vacate the plat at first — which ended up being the reason the entire complement of people was forced to deplane.

“Never in my life have I experienced what just happened to me… I’ve seen it all,” he started.
