The now-deceased suspect from the insane mass shooting this past weekend out in Monterey Park, California, brought multiple allegations to police officials earlier this month, according to authorities.
Police forces located in Hemet, California, where the alleged shooter is thought to have lived, issued a release on Monday.
The man “visited the Hemet Police Department lobby on January 7 and 9, 2023, alleging past fraud, theft, and poisoning allegations involving his family in the Los Angeles area 10 to 20 years ago,” expressed police.
Police went on to add that the man “stated he would return to the station with documentation regarding his allegations but never returned.”
The suspect, who will not be named, has been accused of killing over 11 people and the wounding of quite a few more at a dance studio this past Saturday evening.
Throughout the hours that came after the assault, the suspect was stopped when they attempted to initiate a second attack against a different location before dying themself to a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside of his white van due to a standoff with the police officers, explained officials late Sunday evening.
As a part of the overall investigation, police officials carried out a raid via a search warrant at the suspect’s mobile home which was located in a gated senior community situated in Hemet, roughly 85 miles away to the southeast of the area of Monterey Park, as reported by local outlet KTLA.
Investigators discovered a .308 caliber rifle, multiple hundreds of rounds of ammo, and items suggesting that the now-deceased suspect was building homemade suppressors for his various firearms, explained Robert Luna, the Sheriff for the area of Los Angeles County as part of a release this past Monday.
Luna also stated that, as of writing, a motive has not yet been established or made public. “We want to know as much as all of you, and we’re working very hard to attain that,” he went on.
People who knew the suspect stated that he used to make a number of frequent visits to the Monterey Park dance studio which ended up being the area where the attack took place this past Lunar New Year’s Eve, and he even met his ex-wife there, explained a report from CNN. Records seem to indicate that the suspect had officially filed for divorce back during the latter half of 2005, which a judge approved the following year, and happened to be an immigrant from China.
