MSNBC Makes Primetime Lineup Change

Joy Reid is out. Finally.

After years of spewing race-baiting nonsense, peddling conspiracy theories, and dividing Americans with her nightly lectures on MSNBC, The ReidOut is officially out. And while it’s no surprise that left-wing media figures are crying about it, the only real question is: what took so long? Reid’s ratings have been tanking for years—she lost more than half her audience since Trump left office—but MSNBC stubbornly held onto her, probably out of fear of the inevitable meltdowns that are now unfolding across liberal Twitter (or whatever they’re calling it this week).

And oh boy, are the meltdowns glorious. Some of Reid’s die-hard defenders are convinced this was an act of racial injustice because, apparently, being an unwatchable, unhinged host who alienates half the country isn’t enough of a reason to get fired. Wajahat Ali declared, “She’s a blunt Black woman, so of course her show is canceled. Not lost on any of us.” Ah yes, the old everything-is-racist defense—classic. Meanwhile, MSNBC’s former drama king, Keith Olbermann, blames Joe Scarborough because why not? According to him, MSNBC’s real problem isn’t that Reid drove away viewers with her outlandish rhetoric—it’s that Morning Joe still has a job. Maybe he thinks MSNBC should go full unhinged leftist 24/7.

But let’s not forget why Reid became such a problem for the network in the first place. This is the same woman who told Trump supporters to “make your own dinner” on Thanksgiving and suggested they should suffer for their votes. The same woman who regularly pushed wild conspiracy theories, from Trump-Russia nonsense to claims that Florida’s Ron DeSantis was covering up COVID deaths (which, shocker, turned out to be false). And, of course, the same woman who once posted homophobic rants on her old blog, then lied about being hacked before giving one of the most half-hearted non-apologies in media history. MSNBC knew all of this—and they still let her fester on air for years.

Now, they’re scrambling to replace her, but let’s be honest: nothing is actually changing. MSNBC isn’t suddenly pivoting toward balance or common sense. They’re just swapping out one far-left voice for three others, with Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez set to take over the 7 p.m. slot. And no, Michael Steele does not count as a conservative voice. The man has spent the last several years doing his best Lincoln Project audition, parroting every Democrat talking point under the guise of being a “Republican.” So, MSNBC’s new strategy? More talking heads, same old left-wing spin.

Meanwhile, MSNBC’s new president, Rebecca Kutler, is trying to put her stamp on the network with more shake-ups. She’s considering bringing in Politico’s Eugene Daniels and NYU’s Melissa Murray—both reliable liberal voices—to add to the mix. Jen Psaki, Biden’s former press secretary turned MSNBC mouthpiece, is reportedly being eyed for a bigger role because if there’s one thing MSNBC loves, it’s turning Democrat operatives into “journalists.” And because MSNBC is being spun off from NBC News, Kutler is looking to build up MSNBC’s own reporting team—meaning they’ll have even less accountability than before.

Joy Reid’s departure is a long-overdue correction, but it’s not a real sign of change. MSNBC will keep pushing the same far-left narratives, just with a few new faces delivering them. But hey, at least now conservatives won’t have to hear Joy Reid lecture them about how everything is racist every night at 7 p.m. That alone is an improvement.
