The Department of Homeland Security announced Monday that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested multiple illegal immigrants with prior convictions for violent crimes during enforcement operations conducted over the weekend.
According to DHS, those taken into custody had been convicted of offenses including murder, rape, child sexual assault, kidnapping, robbery, and aggravated assault. The department said the arrests were part of the Trump administration’s broader effort to identify and remove criminal illegal immigrants from communities across the country.

“While Americans were enjoying their weekend, ICE law enforcement was arresting murderers, pedophiles, rapists, kidnappers, and other criminal illegal aliens across the country,” a DHS spokesperson said in a news release.
“The men and women of ICE work every single day to remove dangerous criminals like these from our communities and make America safe again.”
The statement added that, “With these criminals off our streets and out of our country, it’s no wonder that crime rates have reached record lows under the Trump Administration.”
Among those identified by DHS was Juan Mauricio Castillo, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who had previously been convicted of homicide in Nevada.

The department also announced the arrest of Juan Escobar-Herrera, an illegal immigrant from Honduras who was convicted in Alabama of sexually assaulting a child younger than 12 years old.
Another individual, Aung Lwin, an illegal immigrant from Burma, had been convicted in Nebraska of sexually assaulting a child, according to DHS.
Officials also identified Bruno Efren Santos-Gonzalez, an illegal immigrant from Ecuador, who was convicted in Los Angeles of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

Antonio De Jesus Andrade-Ochoa, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was arrested after previously being convicted of second-degree rape in Delaware, the department said.
DHS also highlighted the arrest of Aenoy Panyanouvoung, an illegal immigrant from Laos, whose criminal history in Missouri includes convictions for sexual assault, failure to register as a sex offender, assault, forgery, and fraud.

In addition to those cases, DHS said ICE officers arrested other illegal immigrants who had prior convictions for crimes including assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery, kidnapping, robbery, and motor vehicle theft.
The department said the arrests took place during coordinated enforcement operations carried out nationwide over the weekend. While DHS did not specify where every arrest occurred, officials emphasized that ICE officers continue to prioritize individuals with serious criminal convictions for immigration enforcement.
