Judea And Samaria Continues To Suffer Through Terror Wave As Election Season Approaches In Israel

This past Saturday evening, one terrorist known to be affiliated with Hamas opened fire using an M-16 rifle Givat Ha’avot neighborhood of Kiryat Arba near Hebron, resulting in the death of one and the wounding of another five. This marks just another terror attack in a recent wave of extreme attacks carried out across Samaria and Judea in the runup to the elections to choose the 25th Knesset in Israel.

Despite the initial reports claiming that the shooting was originally targeting the home of MK Itamar Ben-Gvir, known as a very outspoken member of the right-wing bloc of Israel and as the chairman of the Otzma Yehudit party, officials with the IDF were quick to clarify that the terrorist attack was not targeting the lawmaker, despite it happening close to the politicians home.

The victim was later identified as 49-year-old Ronen Hanania, a resident of the area. Daniel, Hanania’s son that was also in the car alongside his father when the attack kicked and became one of those labeled as wounded, expressed to Channel 12 News: “We were shot at; my father was hit in the head and I watched him die. I knew there was no chance he’d survive.” After making it out of the car, the much younger Hanania was assisted by a group of Arabs into a shop for cover, where they were able to bandage his injured hand and apply a homemade tourniquet to his wound prior to his eventual evacuation from the area to a local hospital.

One Kiryat Arba community activist and paramedic, Ofer Ohana, was shot and seriously injured as he made his way in to respond to the scene. The group Rescuers Without Borders put forth its own statement, claiming, “We are all praying for the recovery of Ofer Ohana, a Rescuers Without Borders Judea and Samaria volunteer who was wounded in the attack near Kiryat Arba when he rushed to the scene to save a life.” Two other Israelis and an Arab were also counted among the other victims, all of whom were afflicted with smaller injuries.

The terrorist was rammed into by an Israeli security officer that responded to the terror attack prior to being killed when they were shot by an off-duty Israeli military officer, as seen in released security and in dashcam footage.

The terrorist in question, known to be a teacher out of Hebron, was reportedly dealing with terminal cancer. Quite a few members of the terrorist’s family are known to be associated with Hamas, which includes his brother that was finally released from custody as part of the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal in 2011. Arab residents out of Hebron celebrated the terror attack by handing out candy and firing off fireworks, which was seen all over social media.
