Joint Resolution Over Energy Declaration In Senate Fails

Well, well, well—another day, another failed Democratic attempt to sabotage American energy independence. On Wednesday, Senate Republicans shut down yet another effort by their left-wing colleagues to undo President Donald Trump’s national emergency declaration on energy production. And not just any declaration—this was Trump’s day-one move to jumpstart the domestic energy sector after years of being strangled by Biden’s radical green agenda.

The vote? 52-47, right along party lines. And let’s be clear, it would’ve been 53-47 if Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) hadn’t missed the vote due to recovering from a serious injury. But even with one of their own down, Republicans held the line and sent a very loud, very clear message: America’s energy dominance is back, whether the left likes it or not.

Sen. Jim Risch (R-ID) summed it up perfectly: “For the last four years, American energy production was crippled by a woke, green agenda.” And he’s right. Biden’s disastrous policies handed America’s energy future over to foreign nations while burdening everyday Americans with soaring gas prices, skyrocketing utility bills, and an economy weighed down by pointless regulation. Trump’s emergency declaration is the first real step toward undoing the damage, and naturally, the Democrats are in full meltdown mode.

Trump himself made it clear why this declaration is a game-changer. “That’s a big one,” he said. “You know what that allows you to do? It means you can do whatever you have to do to get out of that problem. And we do have that kind of an emergency.” He’s not wrong. America is in an energy crisis—one entirely manufactured by the same Democrats who are now whining about Trump fixing it.

Leading the Democratic tantrum were Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM), who tried to push through a resolution to overturn Trump’s order. They claimed it would kill jobs, raise costs on families, and weaken economic competitiveness. Excuse me, but what? Have they seen what’s happened to energy prices and American industry under their own party’s policies? Biden’s energy restrictions didn’t just raise costs—they sent inflation into overdrive, crippled manufacturing, and made sure America became dependent on foreign oil again. But sure, let’s pretend Trump’s plan to reverse that is the real problem.

Insert eye roll:

And because Democrats know they can’t actually win on merit, they pulled their usual stunt and made the resolution privileged—a sneaky procedural trick to force a vote. But despite their best efforts, they still lost. And instead of accepting reality, they went into full meltdown mode. “Today’s vote goes to show, once again, that Senate Republicans refuse to do their jobs and put the American people above the wish lists of Trump’s donors and billionaire energy tycoons,” Kaine and Heinrich whined. First of all, if anyone has been bending over backward for billionaire donors, it’s the Democrats catering to climate activists who want Americans freezing in the dark. Second, energy independence isn’t some favor to corporations—it’s a necessity for a strong, sovereign America.

And then there was the cherry on top: “To our colleagues: don’t say we didn’t warn you when your constituents’ energy bills go through the roof,” they threatened. Oh, really? Because last time I checked, Democratic energy policies already caused the energy crisis. Republicans are actually fixing it. But sure, let’s pretend like the people responsible for $5 gas, unreliable power grids, and rolling blackouts are suddenly the guardians of affordability.

Senate Energy and Natural Resources Chairman Mike Lee (R-UT) cut through the nonsense, rallying Republicans to block the resolution. “Senate Republicans won’t let Democrats delay and obstruct any longer and will ensure the President has the tools necessary to deliver the results the American people expect.” Translation? The adults are back in charge.
Update:

The bottom line is this: Democrats had four years to prove their energy policies work, and they failed spectacularly. Now, Trump is stepping in to clean up the mess, and instead of admitting their mistakes, Democrats are doubling down. But this vote proves one thing—they can whine all they want, but Republicans aren’t budging. America is getting its energy independence back, and no amount of left-wing temper tantrums will stop it.
