President Joe Biden did a gaffe during an address at the White House before his trip to Chicago, mistakenly referring to the conflict in Ukraine between Russia and its neighbors as a war in Iraq.
The President was responding to questions from reporters, saying: “It‘s hard to tell, but he is clearly losing the war in Iraq, he‘s losing the war at home, and he has become a bit of a pariah around the world. And it‘s not just NATO. It‘s not just the European Union. It‘s Japan. It‘s, you know, 40 nations.”
However, the war Biden was referring to is the one between Russia and Ukraine; the conflict in Iraq officially ended in December 2011 when the United States withdrew all combat troops from the country.
The confusion arose less than a week after a brief rebellion by the Russian private military company Wagner Group, which followed discontent with the country‘s military leadership. After talks between Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin and President Vladimir Putin, brokered by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, the rebellion was ended.
Some political analysts are speculating that Biden misunderstood the questions due to the current tensions between Moscow and Washington, though the president has yet to clarify if this is the case. The mix–up comes at a time when Biden is attempting to deliver on his campaign promise of economic growth by delivering what his administration has called “Bidenomics.”
The U.S. president had been expected to outline his plans for the economy in an address at Chicago, though it is unclear if the misstatement about the war in Iraq has taken some of the spotlight off that address.
Biden takes a jab at Trump over handing over documents, despite recent events:
Biden repeats the debunked lie that his policies have “reduced the deficit by $1.7 trillion” in his first two years in office.
Per Moody’s Analytics: “The actions of the [Biden] administration and Congress have undoubtedly resulted in HIGHER deficits — not smaller ones.” pic.twitter.com/GmCtV8FXn3

Old Uncle Joe attempts to double down on a lie that has already been thoroughly debunked:

Biden takes an insane stance about inflation before attempting to shirk responsibility:
Biden bizarrely brags about inflation, and then refuses to take any responsibility for it.
When Biden took office, inflation was at 1.4%. Today, inflation has been at or above 4% for 2 years, and even liberal economists blame Biden’s $1.9 trillion “stimulus.” pic.twitter.com/nQiWlekpBC

He capped everything off by absolutely snapping at a reporter over simple questions about his son:
Reporter: “How involved were you in your son’s Chinese shake-down text message? Were you sitting there? Were you involved?”
Biden: “No, I wasn’t.”
Reporter: “Were you?”
Biden *yelling*: “No!” pic.twitter.com/dwLwbVQrju
