Joe’s ‘Bidenomics’ Speech Doesn’t Go As Planned – WATCH

President Joe Biden did a gaffe during an address at the White House before his trip to Chicago, mistakenly referring to the conflict in Ukraine between Russia and its neighbors as a war in Iraq.

The President was responding to questions from reporters, saying:It‘s hard to tell, but he is clearly losing the war in Iraq, he‘s losing the war at home, and he has become a bit of a pariah around the world. And it‘s not just NATO. It‘s not just the European Union. It‘s Japan. It‘s, you know, 40 nations.”

However, the war Biden was referring to is the one between Russia and Ukraine; the conflict in Iraq officially ended in December 2011 when the United States withdrew all combat troops from the country.

The confusion arose less than a week after a brief rebellion by the Russian private military company Wagner Group, which followed discontent with the country‘s military leadership. After talks between Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin and President Vladimir Putin, brokered by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, the rebellion was ended.

Some political analysts are speculating that Biden misunderstood the questions due to the current tensions between Moscow and Washington, though the president has yet to clarify if this is the case. The mixup comes at a time when Biden is attempting to deliver on his campaign promise of economic growth by delivering what his administration has calledBidenomics.”

The U.S. president had been expected to outline his plans for the economy in an address at Chicago, though it is unclear if the misstatement about the war in Iraq has taken some of the spotlight off that address.
