Jennings Comments On Trump Address

Scott Jennings has this remarkable, almost masochistic habit of going on CNN and injecting some much-needed reality into their echo chamber. And like clockwork, the hosts and panelists respond the same way every time—by either ignoring him, steamrolling over his points, or, when all else fails, making some lazy comparison to Nazis. Because, of course, that’s all they’ve got.

Sunday’s edition of State of the Union was no different. Dana Bash and company were busy doing what they do best—finding ways to spin the Trump administration’s successes into something sinister. This time, the target was Trump’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which turned tense when Zelenskyy refused to sign a deal that would have helped bring an end to the war. Instead of analyzing the real stakes, Bash dismissed it as “theater,” calling it “Apprentice 2.0,” as if Trump’s entire foreign policy were just some kind of reality TV stunt.

Jennings, to his credit, wasn’t having it. Instead of feeding into their preferred narratives, he laid out the facts: Trump is delivering on what he ran on. The border, once an absolute disaster under Biden, has been effectively shut down. There’s been a complete attitude shift within the federal government on illegal immigration. And despite all the doom and gloom predictions from the media, the economy is rebounding, inflation is stabilizing, and consumer confidence is rising.

Then, he called out Zelenskyy’s miscalculation, explaining that all the Ukrainian leader had to do was sign the deal, but he let his ego get in the way. The liberal panel, of course, wasn’t interested in hearing the nuances of diplomacy. They were too busy clutching their pearls over the idea that Trump isn’t blindly writing blank checks to foreign nations.

Jennings also tackled another favorite media villain—Elon Musk. He pointed out the absurdity of Democrats suddenly pretending that the federal bureaucracy should be some independent, untouchable entity that isn’t accountable to the elected president. Funny how that concern only seems to apply when Republicans are in office.

But rather than actually respond to anything Jennings said, CNN did what CNN does: ignore, deflect, and smear. Instead of engaging with his points, Bash casually threw in a few political cartoons—including a World War II-era one depicting “America First” isolationists as N**i sympathizers. Subtle, right? Because nothing screams intellectual honesty like dodging a debate with a flippant fascism reference.

And yet, despite CNN’s best efforts, the reality is breaking through. After Trump’s State of the Union address, a CNN survey—yes, CNN’s own survey—showed an overwhelmingly positive response to Trump’s speech. A full 69% of Americans approved of what they heard, with many specifically praising his leadership and policy priorities. That’s right, even CNN’s own audience couldn’t deny that Trump had delivered a clear, effective, and winning message.

So, Jennings wasn’t wrong. The border is getting under control, the economy is improving, and even a historically hostile media outlet couldn’t suppress the fact that Americans liked what they heard from Trump. The problem isn’t messaging—the problem is that Democrats have nothing to offer except fear-mongering, hysterical comparisons, and the same tired, recycled attacks.

If CNN had any sense, they’d listen to Jennings instead of trying to shout him down. But at this point, they’re too committed to their own script to change direction. That’s fine—Trump will keep winning anyway, and the American people will keep tuning out the noise.
