Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville delivered a blistering and profanity-laced attack on President Donald Trump in a video released Monday, just hours before Trump’s scheduled State of the Union address.
The video, posted to Politicon’s YouTube channel, was framed by Carville as a “personal message” to the president. What followed was a barrage of insults and accusations, with Carville claiming Trump’s inner circle despises him and is actively undermining his administration.
“I have a personal message for Donald John Trump. And you sit still, you son of a bitch, when I’m telling you this,” Carville began. “I’m going to tell you right where you are, you fat sorry sack of [expletive]. People hate you.”
Carville argued that members of Trump’s own team are leaking information to the press because they “hate” him. He specifically accused War Secretary Pete Hegseth of leaking claims that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine had warned Trump about the risks of bombing Iran. Trump denied reporting about Caine’s position in a Truth Social post Monday.
“Everybody is stabbing you in the back,” Carville said in the video. “You can trust no one.”
He also claimed that White House chief of staff Susie Wiles harbored similar contempt for the president, alleging widespread internal leaks. “They don’t give a [expletive] about you,” Carville said.
The strategist went further, launching personal insults about Trump’s appearance and predicting political disaster in the 2026 midterm elections.
“You are the most unpopular president at this point in your term that we’ve ever had,” Carville asserted. According to the RealClearPolitics polling average as of Tuesday afternoon, Trump’s approval rating stood at 42.5%.
Carville forecast that voters would deliver what he described as a humiliating rebuke in November 2026, arguing that there are no “silent” supporters poised to rescue the president politically.
The comments are consistent with Carville’s recent rhetoric. In July 2024, he said on his “Politics War Room” podcast that imagining Trump being miserable brought him comfort. In an April 2025 Politicon video, he called for a “reckoning” for what he described as Trump “collaborators.”
The White House has not issued a response to Carville’s latest remarks.
