House Chairman Comments On Possible Impeachment

Republicans are accusing Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas of failing to address the horrifying impact of the southern border crisis and are pushing for impeachment, citing rampant sex trafficking and fentanyl poisonings.

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green, R-Tenn., expressed to DailyMail.com that, in the wake of new bombshell findings to be released this week, Congress might launch an impeachment inquiry into Mayorkas.

“If we have a secretary who’s completely ignoring those facts, and ignoring the plight of those children, then absolutely I would support an impeachment inquiry,” ex-DHS agent Tim Ballard, whose story of rescuing children from sex slavery is featured in the film ‘The Sound of Freedom,’ told DailyMail.com.

According to Ballard, the Biden administration’s policies are to blame for the trafficking crisis at the U.S. border.

“They’re being kidnapped, they’re being trafficked, they’re being raped,” he said.

The White House has maintained that President Biden has not been involved in his son Hunter’s dealings, though Republicans say they’ve opened impeachment inquiries into Joe Biden and his family’s ‘culture of corruption.’

Chairman Green emphasized the importance of “walking and chewing gum at the same time” as various committees investigate potential misconduct by the Biden administration.

Other witnesses scheduled for Wednesday’s border crisis hearing include Sandy Snodgrass, whose son Bruce died of fentanyl poisoning in 2021, and Mayra Cantu, wife of border patrol agent Gary Cantu, who will testify on the “consequences” of the border crisis.

Meanwhile, Ballard is joining Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., for a press conference Tuesday to shine light on a bill that would require the Biden administration to find the 85,000 unaccompanied children who have recently crossed the border.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported 686 “deaths and disappearances” of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico frontier last year, and Chairman Green’s committee is looking into the issue as well as the possibility of Chinese spies using the southern border to gain entry into the U.S.

Ultimately, Republican leaders hope their investigation into the border crisis and potential impeachments will bring an end to the devastating fate of so many of the minors entering the U.S.
