Grassley Shakes Things Up With letter To US Attorney

Senator Chuck Grassley, a long-time bulldog often seen as a leading figure in the Republican Party, is once again leading the charge. The senior senator from Iowa is taking aim at David Weiss, U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware, in an attempt to get to the bottom of the potential corruption case involving former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

The allegations stem from information received by Senator Grassley’s office from “individuals aware of the meeting”. That meeting back on October 23rd, 2020, was between the FBI and Justice Department, and Liz Wolf, an Assistant U.S. Attorney. The meeting was apparently about a potential criminal bribery scheme involving Joe Biden and Hunter during when he was Vice President.

Interestingly, and perhaps tellingly, not a single IRS agent attended the meeting, despite the crucial role they could potentially have in helping to investigate the situation. This has left Senator Grassley with a lot of questions for the U.S. Attorney Weiss, and he’s not alone.

Potent questions have been raised by Catherine Herridge from CBS. Herridge, formerly of Fox News, has been investigating the allegations and has suggested wrongdoing by the Justice Department in stymying and obstructing investigations into Joe and Hunter.

Among the questions raised by Grassley to Weiss are: When did he become aware of the October 2020 briefing, which steps have been taken to investigate the information, why were IRS agents excluded from the meeting, and have the requested necessary government authority to investigate the situation been granted?

It would certainly appear that Senator Grassley is willing to go the distance to get to the bottom of the potential bribery allegations. He has asked Weiss to provide a direct answer as to whether the Justice Department and FBI have made any progress in their supposed investigations, and he’s also requested more information as to why the IRS was sidelined.

Unfortunately, it is unclear if Weiss will provide any detailed answers. The Justice Department has been mostly silent on the matter, and Weiss may follow suit. Time will tell, but if Grassley continues to show such diligence, then it is likely that more information on the situation will come to light in the near future.
