Here we go again: another Republican targeted with a bomb threat, and the usual suspects are suspiciously silent. This time, it’s Congressman Tim Burchett of Tennessee, whose home was the focus of a Monday threat. While law enforcement quickly determined the threat was “unfounded,” it still highlights a disturbing trend of targeting conservatives with these unhinged antics. Of course, the FBI and local authorities are investigating, but don’t hold your breath waiting for the mainstream media to sound the alarm about this kind of harassment.
This isn’t just about Burchett. The same nonsense happened during Thanksgiving week when a slew of Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees and appointees were subjected to bomb threats and “swatting” incidents. Among the targets were Rep. Elise Stefanik, former Rep. Lee Zeldin, and Agriculture Department nominee Brooke Rollins. These attacks weren’t minor inconveniences; they were calculated moves to intimidate conservatives and their families. And yet, you’d be hard-pressed to find wall-to-wall coverage on CNN about how dangerous and “un-American” this behavior is.
Trump’s cabinet appointees all received bomb threats. Tim Burchett was just swatted with a bomb threat, and Marjorie Taylor Greene was swatted with a bomb threat that resulted in the death of innocent woman who got into a car accident with a police.
I’m wondering what the…

Let’s not mince words: these swatting and bomb threat campaigns are terrorism, plain and simple. Their goal is to sow fear and chaos, targeting people not for what they’ve done but for what they believe. And who’s responsible? While investigations are ongoing, it’s safe to say this isn’t a coordinated effort by middle-aged moms in MAGA hats. The left has repeatedly demonstrated its willingness to harass, intimidate, and, in some cases, threaten violence against conservatives. Whether it’s Antifa rioters smashing windows or “activists” showing up at Supreme Court justices’ homes, this pattern of behavior speaks for itself.
Take Donald Trump Jr.’s comments on X: “The violent left has been calling in bomb threats and swatting incoming members of the Trump Administration. Enough is enough with this type of deranged crap!” He’s absolutely right. This “deranged crap” isn’t new; it’s just the latest iteration of the left’s playbook for silencing its opponents. When conservatives are attacked, it’s shrugged off as isolated incidents. When it’s the other way around, we’re lectured endlessly about the supposed rise of right-wing extremism.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration and its allies in the media remain conspicuously quiet. Where are the calls for civility? Where’s the outrage? It’s almost as if threats against Republicans don’t count. Contrast this with the pearl-clutching over January 6, where anyone who set foot near the Capitol is labeled a domestic terrorist. But when prominent Republicans face threats at their homes, the response is tepid at best.
Let’s be clear: this is a dangerous double standard. Threats and intimidation should be condemned unequivocally, no matter the political affiliation of the victim. But as long as Democrats think these tactics help them score points, don’t expect them to rein in their fringe supporters—or even acknowledge the problem.
“Last night and this morning, several of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees and Administration appointees were targeted in violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them,” Trump spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said in a statement in late November. “These attacks ranged from bomb threats to ‘swatting.’ In response, law enforcement and other authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those who were targeted. President Trump and the entire Transition team are grateful for their swift action.”
Burchett’s case, along with the Thanksgiving swatting spree, is a wake-up call. Conservatives are under attack, both rhetorically and literally, and it’s high time for Republicans to demand accountability. The FBI says it takes these threats seriously. Good. Now let’s see if they actually follow through—or if this just becomes another chapter in the book of selective justice.
