GOP Senate Candidate Leaps Forward To Help With Medical Emergency On Flight

This past weekend, Dr. Mehmet Oz, a Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate, rushed to the aid of a 27-year-old passenger in the middle of a medical emergency while on a flight from Louisville to Philadelphia.

When the young man collapsed during the flight, a pair of flight attendants and Oz rushed to his rescue.

“I was sitting in my seat and a woman a few rows ahead of me yelled out that there was a crisis,” Oz explained, as reported by Newsmax. “I ran to the bay and a gentleman had collapsed to the ground. He had been trying to get into the bathroom.”

“When I got to him, he was conscious but disoriented,” explained the 62-year-old doctor. “I asked the stewardesses to come help and get me something with sugar in it.”

After taking a sip of some soda, the young man “started to sort of come back to himself,” stated Oz. “He had a very thready pulse, so low blood pressure, and when I gave him some of this beverage, he began to feel a little better.”

The, now retired, cardiothoracic surgeon stated that the passenger was most likely severely dehydrated. “He had driven all night long to get to the airport and I’m sure he was dehydrated because, with fluids, his blood pressure came up,” stated Oz.

“People get dehydrated all the time on planes, especially because it’s high altitude and the air is drier,” expressed Oz. “Make sure you drink enough water. Caffeine doesn’t work as well as water, because caffeine gets you to pee out whatever fluids you’re taking in. Just take water. … Especially because it’s summertime and it’s hot. I think that was part of what happened to this young man.”

“These flight attendants were very well trained, kept their calm and were able to help me perfectly,” Oz expressed of the flight staff. “I want to applaud their professionalism.”

Oz was able to take win the GOP primary back in June and is slated to go up against Pennsylvania Lt. Governor John Fetterman, a Democrat, in the upcoming November midterm elections for the seat of GOP Sen. Pat Toomey.

As stated by a recently unveiled poll stemming from Emerson College, Fetterman’s double-digit lead has dropped down quite a bit, with the Democrat only holding a lead over Oz of just four points, 48% to 44%.

After suffering a stroke just a scant few days before the primary, Fetterman has repeatedly spoken about drug decriminalization and monitored injection sites, along with defending Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner. The highly controversial DA is currently still under investigation by both Democratic and Republican members of the PA House for allegedly not enforcing the laws of the city.

Oz, who has had a very successful career out in the private sector, has been under fire from the RIght due to this previous heavy-handed support of gun control and abortion.
