Another day, another unelected bureaucrat throwing a tantrum because the gravy train is coming to a halt. This time, it’s Nick Enrich, a senior official at USAID, who thought it would be a great idea to send out a memo attacking the Trump administration for—brace yourself—cutting government waste.
Yes, according to Enrich, reducing bloated foreign aid budgets and shutting down USAID’s endless spending sprees is somehow a direct attack on global stability. And, of course, the media is treating him like some kind of heroic whistleblower instead of what he really is: a partisan operative trying to protect his turf.
Let’s start with the memo itself. Enrich whines that the cuts to USAID will “undermine U.S. leadership” and “increase long-term costs.” Classic bureaucratic fearmongering. Translation: If you cut our funding, the world will collapse, and it will be your fault. He even goes as far as to suggest that the number of deaths from cutting foreign aid is “not known at this time.” In other words, he has no actual data, but he wants you to assume that slashing his budget is the equivalent of mass murder.
Here’s the truth: USAID has been a bloated, inefficient mess for decades, handing out billions of taxpayer dollars with little to no accountability. These so-called “vital programs” that Enrich is so desperate to protect? Many of them are just money pits, funneling U.S. dollars to corrupt foreign governments, questionable NGOs, and wasteful initiatives that have little measurable impact. But, of course, cutting any of this unnecessary spending is framed as a humanitarian disaster.
And let’s not ignore the real motivation here. Thanks to some quick digging, we now know that Enrich has been making political donations to Democrats for years—23 separate donations, to be exact, through ActBlue. He bankrolled Elizabeth Warren’s doomed 2020 campaign, donated to Joe Biden to help him “fight Trump,” and even threw money at Democrat Senate candidates like Raphael Warnock. In other words, he’s not just some concerned public servant—he’s a committed leftist who’s now using his government position to fight against Trump’s efforts to rein in spending.
DOGE: Career civil service workers are openly working against the president and his agenda. Democrats have made it clear that it is the job of these federal employees to provide a ‘check’ on Trump’s power. Naturally, the Democrats are rushing to his defense. Senator Brian Schatz is out here claiming that shutting down USAID will cause “real suffering and deaths that are entirely preventable.” Really? Because last time I checked, the U.S. has spent hundreds of billions on foreign aid over the years, and somehow, world peace and prosperity have not magically appeared. But to guys like Schatz, every cut to government spending is the end of civilization as we know it.
And let’s not forget the real irony here—Democrats suddenly pretending to care about human suffering. These are the same people who were perfectly fine with millions of Americans struggling under Biden’s inflation, watching their grocery bills and gas prices skyrocket while the government prioritized sending billions to foreign countries. But now that Trump is cleaning house and refocusing U.S. resources on Americans, we’re supposed to believe it’s an international catastrophe? Spare me.
This isn’t about saving lives or protecting “U.S. leadership.” It’s about protecting a bloated agency, its overpaid bureaucrats, and the Democrat slush fund that is foreign aid. Trump isn’t dismantling anything illegal—he’s doing what any responsible leader would do: cutting waste, holding government accountable, and putting America first. And that’s exactly why guys like Nick Enrich and his pals in the media are panicking.
