This past Monday evening, Bill Melugin, a correspondent for Fox News, went off on a group of Democrats and Biden officials on camera as part of a Fox News segment.
Quite a few of the many Democrats that Melugin turned the heat towards either pointedly ignored him entirely or refused to even try to answer his questions.
The segment in question takes place just as the Biden administrations policies concerning the southern border have ended up sparking a massive national security and humanitarian catastrophe with well over 2.3 million illegal border crossings have taken place over the past 11 months, which in itself is an all-time record, and well over 4 million crossings in total since Biden officially took office.
“250,000 unaccompanied migrant children arrived at the border since President Biden’s took office. Some of them trafficked, some of them drowning in the river. Any issue with that?” Melugin posited of Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA).
Pressley entirely ignored any and all comments and questions from Melugin.
“Last question, ma’am. Is the border secure?” asked Melugin once again, pressing further. “Do you agree with the administration that the border is secure?”
Again Pressley outright refused to answer.
Melugin then redirected over to the chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), “Chairman, one question, in your opinion, is the border secure?”
“Chairman, one question, in your opinion, is the border secure?” answered Thompson. “Did you hear me?”
“I heard you,” stated Melugin. “It’s a quick question, is the border secure?”
At that point, even Thompson refused to issue any answer to the actual question.
Melugin then once again redirected to Alejandro Mayorkas, President Joe Biden’s (D) secretary of Homeland Security, concerning his stance on the matter.
“I’m Bill Melugin with Fox News. Do you have a few moments to talk about the border real quick?” questioned Melugin.
“I’m sorry, I don’t,” angrily quipped Mayorkas at the man.
Melugin then highlighted an email that was sent over to Homeland Security from Fox News this past week in which the outlet requested an interview due to Melugin and his team being in the area. Melugin was given absolutely no response from anything within the Biden administration regarding the issue.
“A few moments of your time is all we’re asking for and we’ll let you go,” requested Melugin. “We reached out to your office, asked to talk to you last week. They blew us off.”
“I appreciate it,” snapped Mayorkas.
“Is 900,000 got-a-ways a secure border?” questioned Melugin.
“Have a good day,” concluded Mayorkas. “Thank you.”
Melugin stated that the only people from the Democrat party who would actually speak on border issues were those from the state of Texas, the state which has been most heavily impacted by the flood of immigrants due to the crisis.
“This is unsustainable,” exclaimed Rep. Veronica Escobar. “It has been unsustainable for years.”
“This is our administration. I’m a Democrat. And you know, they need to understand they own it now,” explained Rep. Henry Cuellar to Melugin. “They own it now. And they have to take the steps to correct this otherwise, you know, when are we going to see an end to this?”
NEW: We’ve been in D.C. for the last week, questioning politicians on Capitol Hill face to face about the border crisis. Several refused to talk to us, including DHS Secretary @AliMayorkas, who we tracked down in person after @DHSgov never responded to our interview request. pic.twitter.com/RfwePkDlkJ
