Former MMA Fighter Helps Rescue Efforts In North Carolina

Hurricane Helene has left a path of devastation across the southern U.S., wreaking havoc on communities from Florida to North Carolina. With dozens dead and more missing, the storm has created an all-too-familiar scenario: a government scrambling to respond while ordinary Americans and private organizations step up to do the real work.

Enter Tim Kennedy, Green Beret, former UFC fighter, and founder of Save Our Allies—a nonprofit that was originally created to rescue Americans overseas. Now, Kennedy is showing the country what real leadership looks like, as his team brings aid and relief to the frontlines of disaster-stricken North Carolina.

While Kennedy and his team roll up their sleeves and get to work, the question that comes to mind is: where’s the urgency from those in charge? Sure, Governor Roy Cooper is out there telling everyone about the “massive effort” underway. But for the people trapped in their homes, without power, food, or clean water, words don’t mean much when you’re waiting for help that feels like it’s never going to come.

Kennedy, on the other hand, didn’t wait around for a government press release or a FEMA bureaucrat to give him the green light. He saw a need, and like any good American, he stepped up. “If we have the capability and ability to go and help somebody, and we don’t, are we complicit in that?” Kennedy asked during an appearance on OutKick the Morning. He’s absolutely right. When people are suffering, action speaks louder than any governor’s carefully crafted soundbite.

However, that doesn’t seem to be what is actually happening…at least in some areas.

Save Our Allies, which made headlines for rescuing Americans from the Afghanistan debacle, is now leveraging its expertise to help Americans right here at home. You know, because taking care of our own citizens should actually be a priority. Kennedy didn’t mince words when he pointed out that if his team can’t “get dirty here on our own soil,” then what are they even doing? And he’s not wrong. If we can’t use the resources and skills we’ve honed overseas to aid Americans in crisis, then what’s the point of all this?

Meanwhile, more than 2.1 million people are still without power across six states, with North Carolina being one of the hardest hit. The North Carolina National Guard has activated over 500 soldiers and airmen, and yes, the air missions and high-water rescue vehicles have certainly helped. But it’s people like Kennedy who are making the most impact. With Save Our Allies, he’s leading a grassroots effort to bring real aid—food, water, and rescue missions—directly to those who need it most. And in true fashion, he’s not sitting around waiting for bureaucratic red tape to clear. He’s on the ground, where the work actually gets done.
