Doctor Fired Over Online Comments

A Texas pediatrician has been fired after a deeply offensive social media post that appeared to mock the victims of the devastating floods in Kerr County—disaster conditions that have now claimed the lives of at least 82 people, including 27 children and camp counselors at a local Christian summer camp.

Dr. Christina B. Propst, a physician formerly affiliated with Blue Fish Pediatrics in Houston, came under intense scrutiny after she posted a politically charged message on Facebook under the username “Chris Tina.” Her now-deleted post read:

“May all visitors, children, non-MAGA voters and pets be safe and dry. Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA. They deny climate change. May they get what they voted for. Bless their hearts.”

The remark was quickly amplified online after a screenshot was circulated by the account Libs of TikTok, sparking widespread condemnation. Critics described the statement as cruel, inhumane, and dangerously partisan—particularly given the staggering death toll and the targeting of a known conservative community in mourning.

Blue Fish Pediatrics first announced Propst had been placed on leave. But following mounting backlash, the clinic issued a statement confirming her termination:

“The individual is no longer employed at Blue Fish Pediatrics. We strongly condemn the comments made in the post. That post does not reflect the values, standards, or mission of our practice.”

The clinic emphasized that they “do not support or condone any statement that politicizes tragedy, diminishes human dignity, or fails to clearly uphold compassion for every child and family, regardless of background or beliefs.”

The Texas Medical Board acknowledged the incident as well. Board president Dr. Sherif Zaafran stated:

“There is no place for politicization. The entire focus needs to be on looking for survivors. Any complaints we may receive will be thoroughly investigated.”

While no formal disciplinary proceedings have yet been announced, social media erupted with concern over Propst’s fitness to care for patients.

“Please tell us this person is not allowed anywhere near patients in Texas,” one user wrote.
“The ethics, humanity and empathy illustrated here is unfathomable,” said another.

Propst has since scrubbed her online presence. Her pages were removed from both the Blue Fish Pediatrics website and from Memorial Hermann Health System, which clarified that she was not directly employed by them.

“We have zero tolerance for such rhetoric, which does not reflect the mission, vision or values of our system,” Memorial Hermann stated.

Kerr County, which voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump in the last presidential election (over 76% support), has been at the epicenter of Texas’ most deadly flash flooding event in decades. Among the hardest hit was Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp where more than two dozen children and counselors lost their lives in the rising waters of the Guadalupe River.
