Outrage has erupted Saturday after it was revealed that Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, had accompanied his father to Camp David, despite shocking allegations of political corruption and a string of criminal charges.
The House Ways and Means Committee confirmed on Thursday that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) had interviewed a whistleblower last month who revealed a WhatsApp message from 2017 about a proposed business deal. In the message, Hunter Biden allegedly told his Chinese business associate that he and his father, the then–vice president, could ensure “you will regret not following my direction.” The message read, “I am sitting here with my father, and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled… And, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction.”
President Joe Biden has repeatedly stated that he had no knowledge of Hunter Biden‘s foreign business dealings, but this vocalized statement has been counteracted by the Mounting evidence that he had met more than a dozen of pre–inauguration meetings with his son‘s business associates.
Two days after the article was published, Hunter Biden entered an agreement with the Biden Administration‘s Department of Justice and plead guilty to two counts of failing to pay federal income taxes on millions of dollars earned from foreign business dealings. Additionally, Hunter was part of a pretrial diversion agreement regarding a separate charge of possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.
Conservative figures were quick to respond, with Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, tweeting about the events, “This week, federal government whistleblowers allege massive DOJ/FBI corrupt obstruction to protect Hunter and Biden family. And Biden regime sweetheart plea deal with Hunter is announced. Joe Biden‘s response? Bring Hunter to WH for a State Dinner and then off to Camp David for the weekend with him.”
The joint trip to Camp David has proved a source of contention for many, considering the slew of criminal charges and allegations that Hunter has faced since the 2020 Election.
This is not the first time the father and son duo has caught backlash for a joint trip. In December 2020, they flew together to the Biden family‘s home in Delaware. On that occasion, President Biden‘s team justified the trip as one in which “Hunter Biden was able to spend the holiday with his father.”
The joint trip to Camp David this weekend, especially in light of the recent criminal allegations, has raised eyebrows over whether Hunter Biden is using his familial connections to his advantage and if President Joe Biden is aware of the accusations.
The White House has yet to respond to the reports.
