Baldwin Walks Out Of Court While It’s In Session

Update: Baldwin’s case was dismissed when it was learned that prosecutors suppressed evidence.

This week marks a significant moment in the high-profile trial of Alec Baldwin, who faces charges of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the tragic shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie “Rust.” I has taken a long time but the case against Baldwin is finally moving forward.

A courtroom session on July 11 took a wild turn.

During the trial, the prosecutor read aloud some embarrassing remarks Baldwin had made to a detective, suggesting that Baldwin had a motive to lie. In those remarks, Baldwin had harshly criticized the detective, accusing him of leading a “narrow life.” As this was being read, Baldwin, visibly agitated and rocking back and forth, suddenly stood up and walked out of the courtroom. Once again, the Hollywood star throws a childlike temper tantrum.

Baldwin was lucky in the fact that the jury was out of the courtroom but this was a serious departure of courtroom behavior. Proper protocol would have been to request a recess through his attorney if there was an emergency.

Adding to the media frenzy, the trial’s next stage involves testimony from Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the armorer on the set of “Rust,” who is scheduled to testify for the prosecution on Friday.

Baldwin’s actions both in and out of the courtroom have not gone unnoticed. Notably, his family’s presence at the trial has sparked discussions. According to Court TV’s Matt Johnson, Baldwin and his wife are filming a reality show in the same town during the trial. Johnson told Inside Edition, “The optics make him look like a family man, an everyday person and also someone who wants to convey that they’re innocent. He is shooting a reality show here, one can only think this is going to be one of those episodes.”

This move has drawn significant criticism. Attorney Gloria Allred, who represents Hutchins’ mother and sister, sharply criticized Baldwin for announcing the TV project just before the trial. She suggested that Baldwin and his wife might be using their public appearances in Santa Fe to garner sympathy and influence public perception. “It appears to me to be a very cynical, calculated public relations move to possibly have an impact on the jury or the jury pool, to try to get sympathy for Alec Baldwin, and that’s why he not only brought his baby but allowed his baby to be taken from the car and photographed,” Allred said.
